Fiction: Hang the Moon by Jeannette Walls

i was lucky enough to receive an early copy of this book and write a blurb for it – what an honor ! (The Glass Castle is one of my all-time favorite books and has hugely impacted my writing.) Hang the Moon has a vivid world and sharply written characters (Sally is a STAR.) and, of course, Jeannette’s voice is singular, but we all already knew that.

Non-fiction: The Anti-Cool Girl by Rosie Waterland

this memoir is so good, it’s SO GOOD. rosie’s life has had an absurdist lean that is equal parts heartbreaking and humorous, but many people have had absurd lives. it’s rosie’s sharp writing that makes her story so very readable and entertaining (i read it in two sittings.)
